Community rules

Short version: write about clubs, not about private people. Say when you are passing on something you heard.

The rules

  • Write from your own experience. Say so when you are passing on something you heard.
  • No names, addresses, phone numbers, emails, or photos of private individuals.
  • No threats, harassment, or content sexualizing anyone under 18.
  • Do not state a serious criminal accusation as fact unless you witnessed it.
  • Criticism of a club, its management, and its policies is welcome. Pile-ons on a private person are not.
  • No promotional links, spam, or pretending to speak for a club.

How we handle specific things

Every post is screened before it appears. Most publish immediately; some are held for a person to look at. Here is what triggers which.

Private identifying information — names of private individuals, addresses, phone numbers, emails, plates

Blocked or redacted before it appears. Immediate takedown if it slips through.

Threats, incitement, or instructions for violence

Blocked. Preserved and escalated only where legally appropriate.

Sexual content involving a minor

Blocked and escalated under applicable law and policy.

Intimate images shared without consent

Blocked or removed immediately, with an expedited reporting route.

A specific accusation of serious criminal conduct, stated as fact

Held for a person to review. We generally need a first-hand account, and high-risk cases go to legal review.

Rumour and hearsay

Allowed, clearly labelled as an unverified user submission. It never becomes a fact on Country Club Ratings.

Targeted harassment, slurs, repeated personal attacks

Removed. Repeat posting is rate-limited or blocked.

Criticism of a club, its leadership, its fees or its decisions

Allowed. This is most of what the site is for. We moderate threats, doxxing and unsupported high-risk allegations, not disagreement.

Reporting, removal and appeals

Every post has a Report control. If you are the subject of a post, or a post contains your personal information, use the removal request form — you do not need an account and you do not need a lawyer to ask.

If we removed something of yours and you think we got it wrong, appeal it. We keep a record of every moderation action and every appeal decision.

Legal and privacy demands are routed to a separate escalation queue. Tick the “legal or privacy demand” box on the report form and leave a contact address.

What we will not do

  • We do not write posts and pretend they came from members.
  • We do not copy posts from Reddit, GolfWRX or anywhere else onto this site.
  • We do not turn anonymous claims here into facts on Country Club Ratings without independent sourcing and editorial review.
  • We do not remove an accurate negative post because a club asked us to.
